1. Complete aesthetic rehabilitation of the smile

You want to simultaneously transform the shade, shape and alignment of more than 8 teeth. Smile Design makes it possible to plan the overall harmony of the smile (smile line, incisor/canine proportion, midline relative to the face) before the slightest procedure. Without digital planning, the risk of ending up with a "redone" but unbalanced smile is high.

2. Combination of veneers + crowns

Your teeth are not all in the same condition: some healthy (candidates for E-Max veneers), others severely damaged (candidates for zirconia crowns). Smile Design makes it possible to harmonize the shade and shape between these two types of restoration, which have slightly different optical properties.

3. Reconstruction after wear or bruxism

Your teeth have been worn by nocturnal grinding or by time. Smile Design makes it possible to restore the vertical dimension of occlusion in a controlled way — a critical point to avoid post-treatment joint pain (TMJ).

4. Asymmetrical smile or offset midline

Your midline (the axis between the two central incisors) does not coincide with that of your face. This asymmetry can be corrected by precise prosthetic work, planned thanks to DSD (Digital Smile Design).

5. Anxious patient who wants to visualize the result beforehand

If the idea of an aesthetic treatment without being able to "see beforehand" blocks you, Smile Design is the answer. You validate the virtual result on photo and even via an in-mouth mock-up, before any irreversible procedure. No surprises when the final result comes.

Cases where Smile Design is not necessary: touch-up of 1 or 2 isolated veneers, whitening alone, orthodontic treatment without restorations. In these cases, simple planning is enough — no need for the full protocol.

DSD — Digital Smile Design (planning software)

DSD is the benchmark software for aesthetic design. The practitioner imports your photos (front, profile, smile), traces the symmetry axes of your face, and virtually draws the ideal smile according to your facial proportions. The result is a photorealistic 2D preview that you validate before proceeding.

Intraoral scanner (Trios, Medit, iTero)

No more paste impressions. The intraoral scanner captures the precise 3D geometry of your dental arches in a few minutes. Precision: 20 microns (vs 100-150 microns for a traditional impression). Comfort: no feeling of material in the mouth, no gag reflex.

CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and manufacturing)

Once the design is validated, the digital wax-up is sent to the prosthetic laboratory. The E-Max or zirconia ceramic block is milled by a 5-axis milling machine with micrometric precision. This technique guarantees a perfect fit, without approximate manual touch-ups.

Mock-up (in-mouth try-in)

The mock-up is a temporary resin replica of your future smile, placed temporarily on your natural teeth (without permanent bonding). You leave with it after the consultation, test it for 24-48h, take photos, ask your relatives for their opinion. If something bothers you, the project is adjusted before the final procedure.

Day 1 — Arrival and initial consultation

Airport welcome, hotel transfer, direct consultation with the practitioner (60-90 min). Complete clinical examination, panoramic X-ray, front/profile/smile photographs, intraoral scan. Open discussion about your aesthetic expectations. Validation of the final quote and signing of informed consent.

Day 2 — DSD design and validation

The practitioner and their technician produce the digital wax-up based on the captured data. You review the project: photorealistic 2D simulation of your future smile. Discussion of possible changes (incisor length, line curvature, shade). Validation of the final project.

Day 3 — Tooth preparation (light reduction)

Under local anesthesia (light, painless), the practitioner prepares the teeth: minimal reduction of the enamel (0.3 to 0.7 mm for veneers, more for crowns on severely damaged teeth). Final impressions. Placement of temporary resin restorations — you leave with an already transformed smile for the night.

Days 4-5 — Laboratory fabrication

Your final restorations are made by our partner laboratory (5-axis CAD/CAM + manual finishing by the ceramist technician). Meanwhile: a free day in Tunis (visit the Medina, Carthage, Sidi Bou Saïd, La Marsa) or rest at your hotel. Keep your temporaries on.

Day 6 — Try-in and adjustments

Try-in of the final restorations without bonding. The practitioner checks: fit, occlusion, proximal contacts, aesthetic harmony. Control photos. If everything is validated, the final placement follows. Otherwise, touch-ups at the laboratory (shade adjustment, polishing).

Day 7 — Final placement and bonding

Chemical bonding of the restorations (ceramic → enamel) with high-end adhesive resin. Final polishing. Occlusion check. After photos. Handover of the aesthetic passport (5-year warranty booklet + care protocol). Impression for the protective night guard (sent to your home within 15 days).

Day 8 — Final check and return

Morning check-up visit (15-20 min): verification of chewing after 24h, minor adjustments if needed. Airport transfer. Remote follow-up via WhatsApp for the following 12 months.

Variations depending on your case: if you combine Smile Design with prior whitening, add 2-3 days at the start of the stay. If you treat fewer than 6 restorations, the stay can be reduced to 5-6 days.

Digital wax-up: the virtual model

The wax-up (literally "wax modeling") historically referred to a white wax model hand-sculpted by the technician on a plaster model of your teeth. Today, the wax-up is 100% digital: 3D design on computer via Exocad or 3Shape Dental Designer software.

The wax-up is the design step: it defines the shape, length, width and position of each future restoration. It exists only in the software — you only see it as a 2D or 3D simulation on screen.

Mock-up: the model placed in the mouth

The mock-up is the physical translation of the wax-up in your mouth. The technician prints or mills a resin replica of the future smile, which is placed temporarily on your natural teeth (light reversible bonding). You leave with a real and tangible preview of your transformation.

The mock-up is the validation step: you test it in real conditions (speaking, smiling, eating). If something bothers you (proportion, length, position), the digital wax-up is revised before the fabrication of the final restorations. Cost of a revision: zero for the patient (included in the Smile Design package).
