E-Max Crown — When do you need it?

The E-Max crown wraps the entire tooth at 360° and is indicated for damaged, fractured or devitalized teeth. It provides total protection with a cosmetic result identical to a natural tooth.

E-Max crown Tunisia placement at the Dental Veneers Tunisia clinic
Fractured tooth

The E-Max crown fully rebuilds a fractured tooth, restoring its shape, strength and natural aesthetics.

Devitalized tooth

After root canal treatment, the weakened tooth must be protected by a crown. E-Max is the ideal cosmetic solution.

Heavily damaged tooth

When a veneer is no longer enough (tooth too damaged), the E-Max crown is the complete cosmetic restoration solution.

Does the crown go on an implant?

If your crown must cover an implant (and not a natural tooth), see our dedicated site. Dental Implant Tunisia →

E-Max crown or veneer: what's the difference?

The veneer and the E-Max crown are made from the same ceramic, but they do not cover the tooth in the same way. The veneer is a thin shell bonded only to the front face of the tooth: it is ideal when the tooth is healthy and the goal is mainly to improve aesthetics — colour, shape or slight misalignment. The crown, on the other hand, wraps the tooth at 360°: it is required when the tooth structure is weakened, for example a fractured tooth, heavily decayed by a cavity or devitalized after root canal treatment.

The clinical rule is simple: if more than half of the tooth is destroyed, or if the tooth is devitalized, the crown becomes necessary to protect it durably. Otherwise, an E-Max veneer, more conservative, is enough. During the quote, the practitioner reviews your photos — and ideally an X-ray — to guide you toward the solution best suited to your situation.

The process

The steps for placing an E-Max crown

Tooth preparation
1
Tooth preparation

The tooth is shaped to make room for the crown, under painless local anesthesia, then a 3D digital impression is taken.

Temporary crown
2
Temporary crown

A temporary crown protects the tooth and preserves aesthetics while the final one is being made.

Laboratory fabrication
3
Laboratory fabrication

The crown is milled in pressed E-Max Ivoclar ceramic, in the shade chosen with you, by a CE-certified laboratory.

Placement & sealing

Try-in, occlusion adjustment, then final sealing. You leave with a restored tooth that looks natural.

In daily life

Lifespan and maintenance

An E-Max crown lasts on average 15 to 20 years, and often more with good hygiene. The ceramic does not decay, but the tooth supporting it and the surrounding gum must stay healthy: brushing twice a day, daily flossing and an annual scaling are enough to preserve it.

E-Max withstands normal chewing very well. As with a natural tooth, you simply avoid biting hard objects — ice cubes, pens — or opening packaging with your teeth. At the Dental Veneers Tunisia Clinic, every crown is guaranteed 5 years by written contract.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions

What is the price of an E-Max crown in Tunisia?
+
At the Dental Veneers Tunisia Clinic, an E-Max crown costs from €210 all-inclusive. In Europe, a ceramic crown is charged between €700 and €1,500. The savings are significant on average. Dental crown price Tunisia 2026: €210 to €350 depending on complexity.
E-Max or zirconia crown — which to choose?
+
The E-Max crown is ideal for visible anterior teeth because it offers perfect translucency, identical to enamel. The zirconia crown is recommended for posterior teeth that undergo strong chewing forces (1,200 MPa resistance). Both are available from €210 at Dental Veneers Tunisia.
Is the E-Max crown indicated on a devitalized tooth?
+
Yes. The E-Max crown is particularly recommended for devitalized teeth (after root canal treatment) because it protects and restores the weakened tooth while offering a natural cosmetic result. It is the preferred solution for devitalized anterior teeth.
How long does an E-Max crown last?
+
An E-Max crown has a lifespan of 15 to 20 years with normal maintenance. The Dental Veneers Tunisia Clinic offers a contractual 5-year warranty on all its ceramic crowns.
